I’ve been playing guitar pretty casually relating to 5 years now, and the Rock Band 3 Pro Guitar has long been great for helping push me when considering learning. I’m still no Jimi Hendrix, and I will most likely not ever be, but I’ve certainly improved rather a lot since buying it. The new Train Song mode in Rock band 3 has been amazing for this approach. That said, the product is never without its flaws.

Some thoughts: I can’t tell you how much help it is so as to play along with the backing an eye on the game, without your part involved unless you’re playing it. It assists pick out exactly what your instrument does on, and how it fits into a song. Since you’re just triggering the parts which might be already recorded, you don’t have to are worried about matching EQ and effects to wonder if that’s why it sounds different when anyone play, or anything like that. The fact is, because you’re just triggering the prerecorded paperwork and chords, when you mess right up, you can’t hear exactly how you smudged. That’s been the biggest help whenever i play Pro Keys with my individual keyboard in RB3: if I can hear earn money messed up the note I messed up, that helps me understand how in order to mess it up next time. You don’t get that with this Mustang (though you can receive it with the Squier when that comes out). This can be alleviated by learning the song for the game and then working it out and practicing at a real guitar, which you should have if you’re actually learning. You can get a cheap starter guitar for a comparable as the Mustang, so there’s no reason never to, really.

But that’s all about the general Rock Band 3 Guitar experience, I suppose, and not the Mustang in particular.

The Mustang, at the same time great, does present some problems. As spoke of in numerous other interviews, there’s a certain amount of disconnect present between the strings as well as the buttons, which is difficult for guitar players to create tend to coordinate your hands in line with them touching the same physical string that runs right up the neck. This is exacerbated by that the strings/buttons are all the identical thickness, thickness being another cue for one guitar player to know what guitar strings their hands are on. However, this really isn’t that big to a deal. You get used to it immediately, and if you’re just starting away without prior guitar experience, then maybe learning the best way to tell where your hands are without those two cues can certainly make you better. Then again, maybe ıt’s going to make it way harder to gain knowledge of. I dunno, string thickness wasn’t something I ever seriously considered consciously until the Mustang.

The only other problem I’ve encounter with it is that its capacity to use both Pro Guitar and standard Guitar modes on RB3 isn’t that great for those who play regular Guitar mode on Experienced (or probably hard). It takes a bit getting used to on Medium or simply Easy, but it’s definitely doable, and my friends don’t have any complaints. But I tend to play on expert because My group is a nerd who has been playing Rockband (and the first two Guitar Heroes) regarding effing ever, and I can’t do expert Guitar on the Mustang for crap. My hands just will not do it. This may be because my thought process can’t let my hands work the Rockband play style on a real-shaped classical guitar. Who knows? (I don’t. )

Financial well being, it’s a great starter product, and suitable for learning on, but it shouldn’t be your only way to obtain guitar playing fun. Get a legitimate guitar, too. I think one associated with RB1′s loading screens recommended that, really, so this is really just Harmonix’s manner of driving that point home.
