Learning to Cope with Anxiety and Panic Attacks

Panic attacks come in many different forms but anxiety and panic attacks seem to be intrinsically linked.  For those who have never experience a panic attack, it is hard to catch your breath, your heart races and you start to sweat.  This combination of symptoms can also induce dizziness and the body can start to quiver.

The feeling of a panic attack
The stress caused by a panic attack is extreme, the feeling of being out of control can lead to you believe that you are loosing your marbles.  Equally scary is the feeling that whatever is happening to your body is fatal.  These feelings are typical of extreme anxiety and panic attacks.

Living with a high level of anxiety and panic attacks is miserable, but it is not all bad news.Firstly, panic attacks are not fatal and they're more common that you'd guess, so don’t be embarrassed and suffer on your own.  There are some statistics which suggest that as many as seventy five percent of people suffer from anxiety and panic attacks at some stage during their life.

One of the major difficulties of panic attacks is the fear of a repeat performance.  Having suffered a panic attack many people will go on to suffer more, especially if they do not take action to change or prevent the situation which lead to the attack. This fear of further attacks can set off a panic attack which would otherwise never have happened. It is essential to understand what has happened and to try to keep it in perspective.

Anxiety is not a bad feeling.  Like most emotions it has its place.Anxiety is like a warning system, it's your mind communicating to your body that there is something threatening.  Anxiety and panic attacks combined is when the problem arises and the warnings get out of control and the rational, useful side of anxiety is overwritten.

If you are interested in learning further about anxiety and panic attacks then there are other types to consider, which although they have other names, are all forms of the same thing: phobias, post traumatic stress disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder.

To try to reduce the chances of your anxiety and panic attack reoccurring it is important to analyse what sparked off your attack.  Being proactive about the condition will help you to prevent further attacks, also and importantly not being scared of an attack will help.  To live in fear of further attacks will only increase your stress levels and hence this must be avoided.  Remember that however these feel at the time, they are not life threatening and you will survive.

Holiday Stress For A Super Woman

Apparently, my mom tells me, that everyone  the Christmas sadness one time or two in their life.I always thought that it was impossible.  I love Christmas. It is the holiday that I look forward to the most. they are correct really. I’ve got the Christmas blues. Christmas stress have officially arrived. I can’t face the idea of pre lit garland.

I don’t know what’s gotten into me. I just feel so tired lately. I was supposed to get gifts for everyone this week but I just can’t seem to find the right kind of cheer I need.  It’s my personal Christmas shopping principle to have “the right kind of cheer” whenever you shop because it will reflect a great deal with the gifts you choose. To make matters worse, Jim just told me that their boss liked the dinner party we gave a few months ago so much that they “sort of” invited themselves again tonight.  Jim must have “forgotten” to tell me again last night.

So aside from the gifts I still have to buy and the Christmas stress I have to get out of, I have to prepare a dinner party that will top the one I gave before. I need to switch into my Superwoman mode right now. There’s nothing going on. I’m just too tired. With my luck I’m going to come down with a cold.  It’ll be a blow for the kids. People have come to expect the happy cheerful me at Christmas time. I don’t want to bring down the party.

Ugh. I really, really don’t feel so good.  Excuse me…. WHAT!? I’m officially out of my Christmas stress.

I just got the news that me and my husband are having a baby! Bring on the festivities! I guess the crystal white garland might get hung this year.

Stay Disciplined With Tai Chi

tai chi movements

Tai Chi is an ancient martial art, one that was practiced for centuries in China as an exercise, a martial art, and a way to better the internal flow of energy in the body. It emphasis correct form and feeling with each and every movement, which is why it is always taught to be practiced in a slow and gentle fashion.

By involving the entire body with little to no impact, Tai Chi chuan promotes strength, flexibility, and stamina. With the entire body being taught to move as a whole, Tai Chi cultivates the link among the mind and the body, helping to enhance one’s coordination and balance. It can also assist with the joints as well, especially if an individual is very stiff in the joints.

Although it was developed to be a martial art, it involves very little hitting, offensive, or even defense movements. Tai Chi is a movement and breathing art that involves all of the major muscles and joints in the body, helping to circulate internal energy, or chi. The Chinese believe that internal energy, or chi is what prevents or halts diseases.

When practicing the art through tai chi classes, the body will remain very soft and relaxed, just like it was suspended from the top of the head with the joints being the same to that of a puppet. The mind of the student is alert on each movement, focusing on the flow of energy. By being relaxed and focused, you allow the energy to flow through your entire body.

Even though you are soft and relaxed, you are still constantly moving. The energy that moves through your body never stops, it keeps you going. It takes a small amount to no energy to make a movement when moving in reality. By using your chi, everything you do seems as if it is weightless.

In combat Tai Chi movements, the student uses his opponent’s energy against him. The stylist is very relaxed, believing that the energy of the opponent can be used against him. There is little to no strength involved. When the opponent becomes weak and becomes tired - the stylist attacks. This way, there is very little energy left for defense or attacking.

Tai Chi is one of the oldest forms of martial arts, and one of the hardest to find these days. Just like other martial arts, such as Tiger Claw and Ninjutsu, it can be very time consuming to find a master that teaches the art. If you can find a dojo that teaches the art of Tai Chi, you really should not pass it up. You can learn a lot about internal energy and your spiritual well being - learning more about yourself than you ever thought possible in the process.

My Look At The Stress of The Holidays

Lots of people think that the stress of the Holidays comes from the Christmas rush, or that people stress out from the pressure of the season, like decoration, the Christmas turkey or ham, or picking out the perfect present to make family members happy. For some of us we aren’t so lucky as for our main source of stress to be what goes under the lighted christmas tree, but a lot of other considerations. For physicians like me, the holiday stress doesn’t just disappear after Christmas day is over and the house is cleaned up. For doctors the holidays last 365 days a year, or really the holiday stress follows us everywhere.

The holidays are about hope and giving life. Doctors like me are changing lives everyday, when we deal with our patients. Physicians are supposed to give hope to their patients that they can recover. Doctors do everything in their power to make clients feel better, when when recovery is near impossible, we just do our best to help them accept their situation and make them make the best out of the time they have left.

That is what makes everyday of our life a Christmas celebration, and it is stressful enough in our part, especially is we will be witnessing the last breath of our clients. There are times, you can’t hold long by being strong in front of a dying patient, and what you can do is just to empathize, or better yet, get out of the room and keep the sorrow for yourself. That is very nerve-racking in my part. It’s true when I say that holiday stress can be very different when you’re a doctor, because you can’t run away from it, it becomes a part of everyday normal life. So this year when you’re sitting around the pre it christmas wreath just relax and think it could be worse.

Christmas Is Stressful

Flipping Christmas

The holidays can bring a lot of fun and happiness, but along comes stress as well. Annually, I get myself all stressed out over the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season. Sometimes for me, I see Christmas just like the usual depressing and happiest holiday of the year. Why? Because it makes me think about something that I haven’t achieve for this whole year, and another year is about to come and make me struggle to get into that goal. Me having my baby isn’t making the season any easier on me. My husband Labron, just always keep it cool for me and make sure that I don’t think about it too often during these times. Everything down to picking up my new upside down christmas tree stresses me out!

I always believe though that maybe it’s the only time of this year that I get to notice some of the things I don’t possibly have, that’s why I go to this some sort of Christmas stress. Every year when Christmas eve arrives things seem like they will be ok. I get to see people I don’t always see often, especially my parents, since they live in New Orleans and we are in the state of California, and even my nieces and nephews. Although sometimes we don’t encourage them to visit us during Christmas because I know they have other plans on this occasion.

Due to everything, I try to do a few things I’ve learned over the years to distract myself. Often I try to look into the future and write down everything I need to get done for Christmas day. My husband manages to help me out by giving me second ideas on our next planned expenses during Christmas too. And next year we are hoping to spend Christmas abroad, at least that could be a less stressful for us. I look forward to things I have coming that will bring me pure enjoyment, for example I have my chandelier christmas tree.

People Manage Stress Differently

We all manage stress differently and some of us fail to manage stress and suffer physical symptoms because of that failure. The same way that other skills for life are taught during high school or college, coping mechanisms should be something taught to us. Learn skills that will help us to reduce, prevent or to cope with stress as it presents at home, work or school can be done by each and every one of us.

One way to cope is to plan strategies to prevent or avoid those things that have caused stress in the past. Avoiding stress may include having the ability to say "no" to personal and professional added responsibilities over an above what is normally expected of us, and by avoiding those individuals who tend to stress us out and by taking control of the environment in which we live, work and if applicable go to school. We can avoid reading the newspapers or turn off the news on the TV if hearing about terrible news stresses u. In relationships we can avoid those topics that usually start arguments. We can also rearrange daily tasks or delegate responsibilities so that our “to-do list” doesn’t stress us out.

Incorporate fun and relaxation into your daily routine, practice saying “no” so that you don’t over-commit yourself of your time or abilities, of the tasks that you do accept make sure that you prioritize the tasks that you do accept, when possible break down these tasks into smaller projects and then reward yourself for completing each smaller segment and lastly, learn how to delegate responsibility and supervise so that you are not stressing over whether or not it was done right.

You can also learn how to accept things that you cannot change by trying not to control those things that are not in your control. Look for the positive in all things. Share your feelings with others. Practice the art of forgiveness. Anger and resentment will only harden you and create negative energy that binds you to stress.

Panic Attack And Depression

So how is the old happy meter looking these days? Is your level of bliss up to par? Don’t laugh; this is a legitimate question considering all the happenings in recent years. It’s almost like people need loads of catalysts to stir a little happiness. There are many who suffer from it and do not even know the reason. I take a gander at our youth and wonder what happened. How can so many teens suffer from bouts of anxiety and depression? I don’t recall experiencing this affliction as a child or teenager. Regardless, anxiety and depression are dilemmas that must be dealt with.

Do you know someone who suffers from social anxiety idsorder depression? This is nothing to be ashamed of. But, it is still a problem that need to be dealt with. I am totally shocked at all the anxiety and depression troubling teenagers in this modern world. What do they have to be down about really? This is provided that they have a decent home life and the necessities. I can still clearly remember when I was a kid. I have no need for anyone else but me and my imagination. The sky was the limit for fun and excitement. Even when I was younger, I will entertain myself with things I enjoyed doing. There are no more the concept of good old-fashioned fun today. Children across the country suffer from anxiety and depression. And some of these juveniles have no cause for their torment and melancholy. Is it possibly the media warping their young perception? One must admit it’s a tad difficult to understand why some one with their entire life ahead of them, and hardly any work to do would be down. Luckily, there are ways to deal with anxiety and depression. One of the more popular routes is counseling. Therefore if you know someone suffering from anxiety and depression, it’s imperative that you lend a helping hand. Many of these individuals will not acquire help on their own.

A better way to understanding anxiety and depression is via the Internet. There are a variety of websites and help sites online that can further educate you on the effects and symptoms of anxiety and depression. Sleeping too much, avoiding others, staying inside, lack of motivation and failing to eat are all signs of anxiety and depression. Get help if this is familliar.

The Best Stress Management Training

When it comes to handling the stress in your life, you may be in need of a professional’s help. This has nothing to do with your ability to handle life in general but sometimes stress can be so overwhelming that normal people just crumble under the pressure. This is why so many people are starting to realize that there really are a lot of wonderful benefits to stress management training. By taking a stress management class, you are taking the first steps in making sure that stress will never be allowed to get the best of you. You are in charge of protecting your best interest so never forget that.

Stress management training can come in many forms but the most popular it seems is that which is being offered by the employers themselves. Many companies are starting to offer their employees stress management training as sort of a perk and a way to let the people know that they care. The fact is, employees taking stress management training courses are not only helping individual employees, they are also helping the company as a whole. This is because they are likely seeing an increase the productivity and less likely to call in sick as often. Most of the time when employees call in as sick, they are not truly sick but trying to recover from the stress of work.

Where Else To Turn For Help

If your employer is not currently offering stress management training for whatever reason, you can still take action to protect your best interest by finding a class on your own. There are a lot of online courses for stress management training but you will be required to pay a fee for the course. The costs of this training will vary depending upon who you go through, but no matter what, if it means saving your job and your stress level then it is all certainly well worth the cost.

Stress management training can also sometimes be found in places such as colleges or libraries. If you look hard enough, you may even find that your local church that you belong to offers some stress management training. These places are often much cheaper then the online courses but you will have to submit to the times they have set for class. Just start looking around and you will soon see which of the stress management training courses are right for you and your schedule.
