  1. I should have read the fine print.

The name of the product is Cameron Cookware Alder, Hickory, Oak, and Cherry Wood Smoking Chips.

The dictionary describes a wood chip as: “a small chip of wood, esp. one that flakes off when felling a tree or splitting a log”

Imagine my surprise when I opened the containers of Cameron Cookware Alder, Hickory, Oak, and Cherry Wood Smoking Chips and found what appears to be saw dust.

However, when I went back to Amazon.com and checked the product description I found the wood chips described as; “Pure ground wood chip…”

In all fairness this product should be labled Cameron Cookware Alder, Hickory, Oak, and Cherry Wood Pure Ground Wood Chips.

On each container is the warning: ” This product is not be used in any manner other than specified in the Cameron Smoker Cooker cookbook…”

Well, jump back and take notice especially since the Cameron Cookbook was not included in my order.

I know how to use real wood chips. Soak them in water and then add them to the charcoal in your grill.

Saw dust I don’t know how to use except to mulch my garden.

this product is more like sawdust, seller should note product is not made for regular smokers and made for cameron smokers only

  3. I’m irked that I bought four pints of sawdust when the web page clearly says “wood chips” all over it. In fact it is sawdust which is to be used ONLY in the “Cameron Smoker Cooker”. I’m sure “wood” could be used almost anyway and so could “smoke”. But I think we all know what a “chip” is. And none will be found in this package.

What an amazing irritation. I’m rarely disappointed with my Amazon purchases, but I’d certainly have to give low rating that purported to be X and was in fact Y.

    Grrrr….

These are really good smoking chips. So far I have cooked with

Cherry, Hickory and Alder.I mixed 50/50 cherry and Hickory together

for Chicken and Ribs.Next time, I think I will mix 2 tablespoons of

Hickory together with one tablespoon of Cherry to get more flavor.

I used Alder for some Talipia Fish.I wasn’t use to the smell of

Alder and thought something was burning. The fish came out very

tasty.I coated the fillets in lemon juice and seasoned them. The

worst mistake I made was to soak the wood chips in Lemon juice.

I havent tried the Oak chips yet.I can’t wait to try Apple and

    Pecan.

Note:Do not use any Acidic Liquids to soak wood chips in

the Smoker!I have a Max Burton brand Stovetop Smoker.

The Lemon juice stuck, so badly to the bottom of the

smoker, that I thought I was going to have to purchase

another one.I cleaned the bottom of the Smoker with

    oven cleaner.

  5. camerons chips are really not chips as thought of normally, they are fine shreads of the kind of wood stated.I used the hickory to smoke some ribs,as per instructions and they work great!A little bit goes a long way.I will be trying all the different ones i bought.
