Two Great Digital Cameras on Sale Now

This week I’ve been checking out a few about different digital cameras on sale. I’ve selected 2 different digital cameras for today’s {digital camera hobbyiests|review}. The Nikon D60 Slr and the Nikon D40 DSlr. The two cameras are close in features as they are lightweight and easy for the beginner, there are some note-worthy differences.

The Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera details:Nikon D60 w/AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR -Exclusive Black Gold Special Edition. A very nice selection of fun features and a quality camera with good pricing value.

What’s so fantastic about these small but powerful cameras is the user-friendly features. I’m very pleased to say that I’d recommend this camera to anyone looking for an affordable Digital SLR camera. Some people enjoy knowing the actual date each picture has been taken. The Nikon D60 allows you to turn the imprinting date feature on and off as you desire. This feature is located in the bottom right corner of the camera. Pretty much everything you would normally associate with the DSLR’s are there. They truly offer infinite choices among manual, scene, programmed and automatic modes.

I’d give the Nikon D60 a thumbs up for both the novice and semi pro’s. If you can find this digital camera on sale, that’s a nice bonus. The next camera I’ve chosen for my review is the Nikon D40 DSlr. The details of this camera are as follows: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor lens.

Perhaps you are finding yourself wanting to dive into the world of photography. The Nikon D40 is easy to use, takes super pictures in automatic mode and is quite an impressive digital camera.

This digital camera is quite comfortable for the novice to use. It’s controls are simple, and the camera seems to be one with durability. It is also great for the casual hobbyist or someone becoming a little more serious in digital photography. A nice camera for scrap-booking, close up or full body portraits as well as scenery pictures. You are in full control for taking the perfect picture for your particular needs.

Simple manual modes make this one of the better digitals camera on sale for the beginner. It may be a little bit larger than some prefer in a digital camera. You may want to hold it for a little while, get used to the feel and weight to see if it’s a little heavier than your comfort zone allows.

These are not the cheapest digital cameras on sale, but they are some of the better buys for the somewhat serious beginner or the more casual digital photography hobbyist.

You’ll find these particular digital cameras for sale this week at a variety of electronic outlets. I wouldn’t classify either of these cameras in the discount digital camera field, but discounted merchandise is sometimes along the lines of the, ‘you get what you pay for’ buyers plan.

Secrets Of Successful Winter Photography!

Tips for winter photography

Don’t put your camera away at the end of fall/autumn.

Winter time is an opportunity to use your camera in lots of different ways.

We should start by covering a few points to consider when using your camera in winter .

Number 1 is dress for the weather! There is nothing worse than being cold, wet and miserable.

Take a warm drink? It’s worth it!

Secondly, you need to take a few basic precautions, or just a little care and protection, with your camera.

If it is cold when you take your camera out of the bag, car, house or whatever, you will be moving it from a warmer environment to a cold one. You will notice that the camera, lens and viewfinder will mist up

This is condensation. Do not rub the lens to clear it. This will completely obscure your nice, clean lens.

Wait for a while until it clears - that is when the camera cools down to the surrounding temperature.

A handy “tool” to carry is a microfiber towel for wiping any moisture off the body. These towels can be found in most outdoor/camping stores.

Do not put a wet camera back in the bag.

If it is wet or raining keep the camera in a plastic bag, one of those you can buy from any grocery store, and make a hole for the lens. You can use the controls through the bag. Cameras, especially digital cameras do not like to get wet. Water and electronics do not go together.

Batteries do not like the cold either and the charge will not last as long during cold weather. The solution is to take spare batteries and keep them somewhere warm, like your inside pockets.

Now we are ready to take photographs why go to all this trouble?

Winter is a time to take dramatic shots of frost, snow and ice, stark landscapes, mysterious mist and fog, and is also ideal for black and white photography.

The light in winter is less so increase exposure and use a tripod or similar to steady the camera.

If using a compact camera try using “night” mode.

However, if there is snow on the ground there will be a lot of reflected light so exposure needs to be reduced.

If you do not have a DSLR camera use the “bright sunlight” mode.

Alternatively, focus on the darker areas of your scene, apply focus lock by pressing the the shutter release halfway, then swing back and set your scene and shoot!

Wet streets, artificial lighting, reflections in wet streets, low winter sun – the list is endless and only limited by your imagination.

In all instances, if your camera is capable, bracket all your shots. You can set to auto or manual bracketing. Check how to set up for your camera in your manual.

With a little practice you will be able to get a least that one great shot out of the bracketed shots.

Remember that with digital cameras you can get an instant replay, adjust and take again until it is right, and also that most digital imaging software on your computer can enhance your shots further.

Good luck with your photography!

Adobe Photoshop

Photoshop - Adobe Style

In the history of photography, there has never been a time that we can achieve such phenomenal results, as has happened in the digital age. While there are a myriad of tools that the computer and internet have made available, that enhance and change the images that come from a photo shoot, none can top the popularity and power of Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Photoshop, has become equal in thought to editing and creating new effects and people use the term; “to Photoshop” to describe editing or enhancing a picture image.

There is also the option to, “Photoshop in”, where you can add new items; accessories or even people to a picture and that was something we could not do before.

Let’s say you want a picture of you shaking hands with the president, well you don’t have to go to Washington anymore to get it, you can just “Photoshop” it in, so it will look as if you were really there.

Similarly, we can Photoshop out things from a picture we don’t want to see there anymore.

If you want to change a physical feature or flaw you can just remove it. Or, if there is something or someone in the background you don’t want in the picture, then you can remove that too. The features on the program are so advanced that you can not even tell that the pictures was altered in some way.

Photoshop has become such a de facto standard for photo processing used, that if you are setting up a photography studio or business; a copy of the software is as necessary as Microsoft word or PowerPoint. Since this software is so popular, you can find it in most retail stores in the computer section. If you are not familiar with computer software, it should be no problem to find someone already familiar with Photoshop that can help you get it set up and get started with it, and maybe even show you how the basic features work.

But Photoshop has not always dominated this genre. The program was created in 1989 by two brothers, John Knoll and Thomas Knoll. As they worked to creat3 Photoshop, the brothers wanted to use it for some custom projects, but it wasn’t long before they realized it’s marketing potential. So, being smart entrepreneurs, John and Thomas founded a little company called Adobe and began operations in 1990.

Adobe has been a shining example of how to achieve success in the age of the internet. It’s popularity has grown rapidly and internet users are very familiar with Adobe. You probably cannot find a personal computer that uses the internet that does not have a free copy of the Adobe reader on it, used to read PDF files.

In order to increase your skills in using Photoshop, you should see if you can practice on another person’s program first. Perhaps a friend or family member already has it installed and they would not mind letting you try it out, so you can become familiar with it. But if they are really good at using Photoshop, you should ask them to show you some things on it, and teach you any neat tricks they may have learned themselves.

Picking one afternoon to do this together, could end up getting you addicted to Photoshop.

After that, you would do well to download a copy for yourself. There are different versions you can choose from and one you should consider first is the evaluation version. However, you only really need the evaluation version if you are still not sure you are going to buy your own copy. Since Photoshop dominates this market, you most certainly should buy a copy, this will help save some frustration, so it’s a good idea to purchase a licensed copy right away. Now, you will probably find yourself playing with the software for long hours just having fun and that’s great. If you want to increase your skills, they you can sign-up for some Adobe Photoshop classes that are available in your local area. Often, these classes will help you learn different techniques and shortcuts in using the software.

From there on out, your imagination is the only limit to how you will use this tool to make your photographs better for your customers. You will be able to respond enthusiastically when someone says, “That’s ok, you can just Photoshop and fix it right up”.

Look After Your Memory Card!

Digital Camera Tips - Formatting Your Memory Card

The first time you use a new memory card with your digital camera you should always format it in the camera, or it may not record your images correctly.

Why should you format your memory card?
These cards are like mini computers and have file systems, folders etc.
Formatting in the camera sets the card up so that it functions properly for that particular camera.

Sometimes the camera will recognise a new card and sometimes you need to go into the MENU function of your digital camera.
It is usually found in SETUP however if in doubt check with your manual.

It takes no time at all to do this and you can carry on with the business of taking photos confident in the knowledge that your memory card is functioning correctly.

Please note: Never remove a memory card when the camera is still switched on, or switch the camera off while it is still writing to to the card after you have taken a picture, as in each case the memory card will be corrupted.

After recording images for some time onto a card you could also see error messages on your camera. Reformatting the card should fix this.

The final and most useful reason for formatting is that after successfully downloading your images to your computer (check first!), it is good practice to format your memory card each time you put it back into the camera, even if you have deleted the contents of the card using a computer.

This is a good habit to adopt as it minimizes the risk of communication falures between the card and the camera, especially if you use the card in different cameras.

It is also a quick way to delete your images as reformatting clears or overwrites the file directory.

The question is frequently asked “What if I have deleted all my images in error or my memory card is corrupted?”

Camera manufacturers usually state that formatting a memory card “permanently deletes all photographs and other data the card may contain”.

However, this is not strictly true as the formatting process only overwrites the file directory which contains your image files. The images are usually still there but you cannot access them.

All is not lost! A good photo recovery program can usually retrieve most images. You can download free software from the internet which will help you to recover your lost images.
Check through your search engine of choice for Memory Card Recovery or Disk Recovery.

Buying a Digital Camera?

The latest digital cameras are brimming with technological features, this often leads to people buying something that doesn't suit their needs. So what are the things to look for if you want to buy a digital camera? To get you kick started there are some useful tips outlined in this article. The most important question you need to ask yourself is: what sort of photography do you intend to use the camera for?

Will you be using it every day? A point to remember when you are looking at buying a digital camera is what type of batteries it uses because ideally they should be rechargeable, long term it will be less expensive to use this type of battery. You also have to consider the power of the computer and the printer you will be connecting it to for editing and printing needs. You may want to consider buying your camera as part of a new computer system which would probably include all the software and a printer as well. Some new personal computers come with a digital camera as part of a package, this may be worth considering. When you buy a digital camera, the image editing software usually comes with it but other necessities such as a photo printer will be an extra cost item.

Most people with computers will have a printer but you must check to see if it can be used for printing photos. The megapixel resolution of the camera will ideally need to be adjusted as high as it will go if you want to produce decent size images. When buying your digital camera, look for a large LCD screen version which many newer cameras have as standard, this screen allows for greater shooting flexibility in addition to making it easier to view them afterwards.

With a little luck this article has cleared up a number of points you may have been unclear on and should make buying a digital camera a little easier. Take note of how easy it is to operate because although functions are important, if it isn’t easy to use, it won’t be! Many newer digital cameras come equipped with large internal rechargeable batteries but if not you shot invest in a couple of sets, not only are these extremely cost effective, less batteries means less are disposed of which helps the environment. All digital cameras have a LCD screen which is a small screen located at the back of the unit, large screens make taking the picture so much easier.

Often you will find that smaller compact types are only made without a viewfinder to reduce the size but include a large, by comparison, LCD screen. If you enjoy close up pictures then you need a model with an optical zoom. If you are serious about buying a digital camera then you should try to avoid purchasing one with only a digital zoom. To improve the picture quality, you will need to increase the number of pixels that the camera has available. I hope this information has helped you understand a few of the basic expressions and topics that will help you buy a digital camera.

5 Easy Ways to Enhance Digital Camera Photography

Whether you are adopting your digital camera for recreational use or are taking a trip into the world of professional photography, you will find it helpful to understand some important tips to improving the overall quality of each picture that you take.

1) If you are taking a picture of a person or your favorite pet, make sure that you place the camera at the subjects eye level. If you are photographing a child sitting down or your cute puppy playing on the ground, you will need to stoop down to their level. This does not mean that the subject has to be staring into the camera directly because just being at their eye level will create an inviting image.

2) The best pictures will be those without a lot of buzy background action. Instead, a plain background will bring more attention to your subject and less to what is going on around it. When you look through the viewfinder, also take a moment to scan the surrounding area in an effort to make sure there are no distrations in the background.

3) Did you know that using your digital camera’s flash outdoors can noticeably enhance the quality of your image? If you are taking photographs on a sunny day, especially, shadows can be quite a problem and can sometimes be reduced or eliminated altogether with the use of the flash. This was one digital camera tips I learned by accident.

4) Don’t be afraid to move in close to your subject. You can use the zoom feature if you are unable to get as close as you would would like because your goal should be to fill the entire picture with your subject. If you get too close, however, the photo may end up blurry. If you’re not quite sure take several pictures just to make sure you get the perfect one.

5) Get creative with your digital camera pictures. Take both horizontal and vertical photos. Sometimes it’s easy to get into a habit of using only the horizontal viewpoint. From {taking pictures of cats} to skyscrapers to ocean waves, vertical photos are often the best way to capture every single detail in your subject.

While you are taking photos, no matter your location, take special care to notice the lighting. Cloudy days often provide phenomenal photo opportunities, but you will need to be aware of much more than just the what’s happening in the sky as given in the tips above. If you are using your digital camera indoors, the lighting does become an important factor so you will want to try to avoid areas that may place a glare in the photo.

After all, the hightlight of your photo should be your Best buddy, person, or adventures you will find outside of your home. And of course, that would be the subject.

Professional Wedding Photography - Is It Required Or Can We Go It Alone?

Professional wedding photography can be expensive, and many times, this is where couples with a limited budget will trim some of the excess. Is it wise to cut corners on your photographer? Can you get by without a professional wedding photographer? While you might be able to get a friend to do the job or do the picture taking yourself, do you really want to take the chance the photos won’t be nice?

Professional wedding photography bring a lot to the table that may be hard to replace. The professional is an expert at capturing subtleties of expression and nuances of the environment. Your friend or relative may be reasonably skilled with their digital camera, but unless he or she has professional experience, it is likely that the person will miss some of the fine details that a professional photographer would capture.

For traditional professional wedding photography captured on film, professional wedding photographers are extremely important. The lighting, film speed, poses and angles all affect the finished product and only the professional or an extremely experienced amateur fully understands the complicated interplay that goes into good posed shots.

Couples who choose contemporary wedding photography, such as wedding photojournalism, may not feel that hiring a professional photographer is necessary for them. Their shots will be candid, not posed, and will reflect the day as it unfolds. They may feel that a friend or family member will be able to capture these shots accurately.

However, it is important to keep in mind that a friend or relative does not have professional detachment in regards to your wedding. He or she will experience emotions, personal drama, and the gamut of reactions that come with attending a large family event. It is possible that even the most well meaning friend will inadvertently miss some shots due to other things that are happening throughout the day. Additionally, the photojournalistic style requires that the photographer remain completely uninvolved in the unfolding situation. This is a difficult position in which to put someone who obviously cares deeply about you.

Affordable professional wedding photography is available from trained wedding photography professionals. If your budget is truly tight, you may want to hire a wedding photographer who has just started out on his or her own and is eager to build business. Many times, he or she will have been well trained as a staff photographer with a larger company prior to starting his or her own company. Be sure to ask for samples of the photographer’s work, but do not write someone off simply because the business is new.

Also, consider hiring a wedding photography professional solely for his or her time plus the original media, forgoing expensive wedding photography packages. Explain to the photographer that you are on a tight budget and enlist his or her help in saving money.

Once you start to work with professional wedding photographers, you will find that many of them care enough to want to help you get the best pictures you can afford. Be up front and tell the photographer what you’re looking for, and he or she might surprise you with an affordable wedding package you and your future spouse can both be happy with. Professional wedding photography is worth the effort and expense. When all is said and done, you will have your wedding album for a long time, so why not make sure it is as beautiful as possible?

How to sell microstock pictures online

The internet has created millions of ways to profit from home.Anyone with a little desire and work can make money from home.

One of the more specialized ways of earning from the internet is through the sale of pictures.A hobby photographer can now compete with the "big boys" and sell her pictures online rather easily. There are many ways you can sell your high quality pictures online, make sure they are crisp, clear and high res.Make sure you use at least 4 megapixels for your photos and touch up the lighting as much as possible.

You need to remember that it's not what you think that will sell the best but what the market wants to buy.  When you sell what people want, you will have a better chance of selling more pictures.

You have almost unlimited ways to sell pictures online. You can sell specialized niche CDs filled with photos about one topic or model, you can sell photo prints or you can upload photos to stock and microstock photography sites.

You can sell your photos one by one but that will take a lot of work.Compilations of pictures are usually sold on a CD or even DVD.Make sure to load it up with quality material to make the buyer get their money worth to buy from you again. You can create a CD with a single focus all about one topic and make it interesting and useful.

A nice option is to sell photos online and print them on high quality photo paper and mail them to your customers.  The buyer can go to the website, choose a picture and size, and the printed copy is sent to his address.Use the highest resolution you have to showcase your photos, use thumbna
