So you play golf every weekend with your friends and watch the occasional PGA event on television and you swear that a couple of the guys in your weekend group hit the ball with the same power and accuracy as the pros. You have not experienced golf until you have been to a pro golf tournament and watch the pros hit the golf ball.

You will develop a whole new level of respect for pro golfers when you go to a live pro golf tournament and realize that the game looks easier on television than it is to play in real life and that the level that the pros play at in a pro golf tournament is way above what you and your friends play at on the weekends.

There is a grace and power to a properly executed golf swing that does not come across when you are watching a pro golf tournament on television. That feel of power, that hiss of the club as it cuts the air, and then the sound of impact do not come across on the television at all. To really understand the power of pro golf you need to feel it live at a pro golf tournament for yourself.

A pro golf tournament can also be a great bonding event for a father and son or any family members that happen to be a fan of golf. At my first pro golf tournament I remember seeing Raymond Floyd hit a hole in one. It was so much more exciting than it ever looked on television that it will remain as a memory for me for the rest of my life. Just like catching a home run at a pro baseball game, watching the players do their thing at a pro golf tournament is something you never forget the rest of your life.

Give It A Try

If you follow golf then you owe it to yourself to get to at least one live pro golf tournament in your life. The experience is something you will never forget and you may even luck out and experience a professional hole in one as well. At a pro golf tournament you get to be so close to these world famous professionals that you could reach out and touch them if that wasn’t frowned upon by the PGA. Give a live pro golf tournament a chance and experience the power and grace of golf played by pros for yourself.

There are multiple parts that golf pros will refer to when they are talking about their golf game. There is their driving game from the tee, their long iron game from the fairway, their short game which is chipping, and then their putting game. Of course all pros also have their recovery game which is what they rely on when they are playing the pro golf tournament in the woods and out of the rough but they rarely talk about that part of the game.

There can be a lot of debate about which part of the game is most important to winning the pro golf tournament but a big case can be made for the pro golf irons being the single most important part of winning a pro golf tournament. Of course it is important that a golfer keep their ball straight off the tee as much as possible but if in the course of a pro golf tournament the golfer loses control of his iron game from the fairway then they have no chance of winning the pro golf tournament at all.

The iron play sets up the wedge play and in some cases a good iron game from the fairway can reduce the need to even play the wedge game and that certainly increases the chances of winning the pro golf tournament.

If a pro is average off the tee, average with the wedge, average on the green, but exceptional in their ability to execute their fairway iron shots then their chances of winning any pro golf tournament are greatly increased. The iron game is where most of the creative shots come from and the recovery shots are usually from the iron game as well. If you cannot figure out effective ways to navigate through the trees with your iron game then your chances of winning a pro golf tournament are pretty slim.

Nice When It All Comes Together

Of course the pro with the complete golf game will be the one that is consistently on top in any pro golf tournament. Some of the greatest golfers of all time relied on all aspects of their game to get their victories. A well prepared pro knows that trouble on the golf course can come from anywhere and the only way to really win consistently is to work on all aspects of your game and be ready for anything. But if you are looking for one part of your game to work on to improve your chances of winning then that part would be your iron game. You just never know when you will have to work your way around the biggest tree on the course to win the tournament and it is better to be prepared than not.

A set of pro golf clubs is broken into various segments. There is the pro golf woods, pro golf irons, pro golf wedge, and the pro golf putter. For the wayward golfer the pro golf equipment could also consist of the pro golf ball water retrieval device which fishes the ball out of the water hazard. But pro golf equipment takes a while to become accepted by a pro golfer and there is a ritual that many pro golfers go through before they will even try new pro golf equipment.

Probably the most sensitive of all pro golf equipment is the putter. A pro golfer will go so far as to blame their putter for their bad play in tournaments and buy a new putter at the pro shop prior to a round in the tournament and just start using that brand new putter in tournament play. While this goes against the notion of breaking pro golf equipment in, it shows how important feel and confidence is to the pro golfer when it comes to their equipment.

Even though many pro golfers get their pro golf equipment for free they will still refuse pro golf equipment if they cannot get it to feel right or if it does not help their golf game. Some golfers change equipment every season and some change it every month but there is no doubt that golfers and their pro golf equipment have a strange relationship.

The first thing a golfer looks for in their pro golf equipment is that feel. When they pick the club up it needs to feel comfortable in their hands or they won’t use it. Comfortable means that not only does the grip feel comfortable but the clubs are the proper length and that they have the right weight to them. Golf is such a game of feel that if the clubs do not feel right then everything is going to be off.

Right Down To The Golf Balls

Almost every pro golfer has a long list of superstitions and rituals that they attach to their pro golf equipment and no piece of equipment has more ritual than the golf ball. For most golfers if the golf ball is not their preferred brand, in their preferred color, and their preferred model of their preferred brand then they won’t even look at them. Some will even go as far as to insist that the numbers on the golf balls all be the same or they won’t use them. There is a lot of truth to the statement that a lot of the game of golf is mental and some of that mental is very strange.

What goes into buying the right golf club? There are a lot of factors that go into making sure that the club you are getting is the club for you and if you really want to take out any of the chance of getting a bad club then your best bet is getting your club from a pro golf shop. If you are looking for the fit and feel of a pro golf club then your best bet is to get fitted for your clubs at a pro golf shop. The people working at a real pro golf shop will know exactly how to fit you for a club, what to look for, and what questions to ask to make sure the fit is perfect.

Remember that getting the perfect fitting club from a trained professional at a pro golf shop is going to cost you more than if you picked a club up off the shelf at your local discount store but, as with anything else in life, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for a golf club that is going to help you improve your game, lower your score, and potentially increase your enjoyment of the game of golf then you need to get your equipment from a pro golf shop and make sure that the clubs that you get are fitted perfectly to your stance and your game so that when you take them out on the course you have the confidence to play your best.

The first thing the pro golf shop will do to fit you for your new club is to measure how long the staff of the club will need to be. This all depends in how deep your stance is, which club you are looking to get, and how your swing is. Once again these are all things the people at the pro golf shop are very qualified to evaluate and incorporate into your new club. It is critical that the shaft on your club be measured just right or else it could throw off your entire swing.

Angle And Grip

When the people at the pro golf shop refer to the loft of your club they are referring to the angle at which the club head meets the ground. This angle will decide how high and far the ball will go when you strike it. Some people prefer more height out of their golf shots and these are the kinds of things that the trained professionals at the pro golf shop know how to compensate for when fitting you for your new clubs. Be sure to ask a lot of questions and give a lot of information at this point to be certain you are getting exactly what you want out of your club.

Everything at the pro golf shop is measured closely to guarantee the most comfortable club. Even the grip is measured to make sure that when you grab on to your golf club you can make it do exactly what you want it to do.

It will sometime occur to people that watch golf on television, or attend pro golf tournaments, that they have no idea what makes up a pro golf club. There are very specific rules about what the pro golf equipment needs to be and how it is to be used. Golf clubs must adhere to a strict guideline of specifications for them to be used in a pro golf tournament. Even the golf balls must meet certain pro specifications for them to be legally used at a pro golf club during a tournament.

If you use equipment that falls outside the set specifications then you can be penalized or even ejected from the tournament. But what about the golf course? Are the rules as set in stone as they are for the equipment? Many people think that there is a set series of pro courses throughout the world and that is where the golf tournaments all take place. In reality a pro golf club could be anywhere and the specifications and rules used to determine if a golf club is professional caliber are not as set as they are for the clubs and balls.

A golf club is not built under the assumption that it will be used as a pro golf club and there is no one set group of clubs that can lay claim to being the pro golf club in the world. The idea of the professional golf tournament is very dynamic and some of the things that go into determining what makes a pro golf club can be very surprising. Some people think that a golf club designed by a well known golf pro automatically becomes a pro golf club and this is not true. There are many clubs designed by famous pros that are not designated as a pro golf club and probably never will be. It is a very strange process that has set rules and then some things are a judgment call.

If You Build It

A pro golf club needs to have sufficient access for fans to be able to comfortably attend a tournament. Many golf clubs are built out in the country with one small country road that is their access and a club like this could never be a pro golf club because the access by road is insufficient. There needs to be an adequate way of handling the traffic that attends a pro tournament before a club can become a pro golf club.

The sport of pro golf is gaining in popularity all over the world and as pro golf gathers more fans it stands to reason that there will be more demand for gifts for the pro golf fan for birthdays, holidays, and other events. If you are trying to think of what to get the pro golfer you know then may want to consider a trip to the pro golf shop nearest you to pick up any number of creative or practical gifts. It used to be that the only place you could find a well stocked golf store with professionals on staff to answer your questions was at your local golf course. The pro shop is staffed with knowledgeable professionals who can help you with any questions you may have. But as sports in general, and golf specifically, begins to gain in popularity many of the pro golf stores and shops are being set up well outside the closest golf course. In some cases they may be super golf stores set up on their own, staffed with professionals, and ready to answer any of your golf gift needs. There are also the multi purpose sporting goods stores that are much more than aisles of shelves with golf equipment on them. These stores are also staffed with very knowledgeable people that can help to answer any of your questions.

It is always a tough thing to figure out what to get the pro golf fan as a gift. Equipment can be a very touchy subject as many golfers prefer to purchase their own equipment. Golf equipment needs to have the right feel to the individual golfer and if it does not feel like something they can use then they won’t use it. Golf clothes can be the same way. Sometimes the pro golf fan sees something on television that the pros are wearing and they want one too. But, just like equipment, if it doesn’t feel right then they will not wear it.

So What Do You Do?

Probably the best gift for the pro golf fan is a gift certificate to their favorite golf pro shop. Almost anything to do with a pro golf fan’s golf game is something very specific. They will only use certain kinds of clubs, they will only use certain brands of golf balls, and they won’t wear certain kinds of clothing while they are playing golf. With all of that going against you it is probably a good idea to try and not get something too personal for the pro golf fan.

Novelty gifts for the pro golf fan can be hit or miss as well. Sometimes interesting or funny golf books or posters make great gifts as well as calendars for the wall or the desk. Whatever your choice is you may be best served to get something that allows the pro golf fan to decide ultimately what they will be getting especially if it affects their golf game.
